Flimsy ribbed fences listing in the wind
the sound like docked boats banging together gently

Cell phone waves
Flow through clouds
In a glowering sky

Estranged car seats, tires, valves
marinate in
the canal’s sludgy shores

Gutted bus with
ripped out seats beside it
sun sets behind the water tower

Trophies in the garbage
spring cleaning means
scrapping trinkets of victory

Tugboat rolls down the canal
it’s come to tow
the scrap metal barge

Windswept plastic bags
snagged on barbed wire
the building’s safe from garbage

Bumpers in a dumpster
spilling out
collision souvenirs
